I read People of The Lie (and all of M Scott Peck's books) years ago, back in the early 90s, when I began the journey of childhood sexual abuse recovery. I thought I had learned enough about the how's and why's of people of the lie that I wouldn't succumb to hatred again, but the last three years opened those old wounds. I felt rage again. I hadn't felt intense rage since the 90s and that told me that I needed to go back and reassess what I thought I learned.
As always, you remind me of what I did learn, and you introduce new perspectives that help me continue my healing journey.

Fromm, the originator of the phrase "malignant narcissist", has much useful exploration on this topic. In particular, his writing on this topic in his "The Art of Loving" I consider should be confronted by all:
“The main condition for the achievement of love is the overcoming of one’s narcissism.”
For the Individual as well as the Human Species, this is our task, to learn “The Art of Loving” that will then remove the Narcissism fostered by Obedience To Authority that generates violence and war.
